The Sri Lankan Information Ministry issued a statement today regarding the deployment of troops. It said the president had ordered the deployment of troops to ensure that no untoward incidents took place during or after the funeral. The army will assist the police in maintaining order.
Earlier, a 95-kilometer curfew was imposed in and around the city on Wednesday following clashes in Rambukkana on Tuesday. However, the curfew was lifted later today. However, the city’s road arranged police members were found to patrol. A judicial investigation has been launched into Tuesday’s shooting.
