The NFL’s biggest stars are often the most recognizable players, but it’s a few of the league’s less heralded names who have been making waves this season. Alvin Kamara and Ja’Marr Chase lead our list of Players of the Week for week 5, with Kamara’s performance in New Orleans’ win over Atlanta standing out as one of his best so far in 2018.
Alvin Kamara is an American football running back for the New Orleans Saints He played college football at Tennessee before he was drafted by the Saints in 2017 In addition to being selected to Sports Illustrated’s All-American team, he was also awarded SEC Offensive Player of The Year honors in 2016.
Ja’Marr Chase is an American football wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bearcats. He was a five-star recruit coming out of high school, and committed to play at LSU. In his freshman season in 2018 he caught 42 passes for 690 yards and 9 touchdowns, including 4 receptions for 97 yards in a loss against #1 Alabama.
Alvin Kamara has been a standout performer for the New Orleans Saints, bagging two weekly awards at just 22 years of age. This running back first exploded onto the scene in week 1, rushing 13 times for 60 yards and catching five passes for 37 yards against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His best outing came in week 4, catching 12 passes for 89 yards and two touchdowns to spearhead a Saints comeback victory over the New York Giants. His performance against the Atlanta Falcons in week 5 was outstanding too, rushing 9 times for 45 yards to go with five catches for 65 yards and another touchdown.
Ja’Marr Chase has been the leading receiver on a Cincinnati Bearcats team that has exceeded preseason expectations. This wide receiver first showed his true potential in week 3, catching 5 balls for 145 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Bearcats to victory over Temple. But it was against Memphis in week 4 where he bagged four catches for 121 yards and two touchdowns to take home our offensive Player of the Week award.
