Lewa’ hat-trick at Camp Nou

Forgetting the nightmare of last season, Barcelona started a great one. Xavi’s side secured a big 5-1 win over Viktoria Plzen at the Camp Nou in Budapest (September 7). Robert Lewandowski scored a hat-trick.

Xavi’s touch seems to have returned to the previous form of Barcelona’s football. Those little passes, moving the ball outside the opponent’s d-box is like Pep Guardiola’s Barcelona. Barcelona’s game against Viktoria Plzen was, in a word, fantastic.

Barcelona dominated the match from start to finish. Frank Casey scored the first goal of the match. With his goal in the 13th minute, Barcelona opened this year’s Champions League. Then in the 34th minute of the match, Lewandowski opened his goal book in the Champions League for Barcelona.

However, after ten minutes, Jan Sikora scored a goal. But before the celebration of that goal ended, Leva scored again. Leva scored his second goal in added time in the first half. With that goal, Barcelona went into the break with a 3-1 lead.

Back from the break, Barca continued to play small passes. Lewandowski completed his hat-trick in the 67th minute of the match. Four minutes later, Ferran Torres scored with a wonderful volley. In the end, despite some more attacks, Barca did not see a goal.

76 percent of the ball was at the feet of Barcelona players throughout the match. And Lewandowski-Torres-Gavira took 20 shots targeting the opponent’s post.

Meanwhile, another Spanish club, Atletico Madrid, also got a dramatic victory. Simeone’s side won 2-1 against Portuguese club Porto. No team could score a goal till 90 minutes in the match. However, both teams scored three goals in extra time.

Mario Hermoso put the team ahead with a goal in the 91st minute of the match. Mateus Uribe scored for Porto five minutes later. But who knew the next goal would be another one. Griezmann scored the winning goal for Atletico in the 101th minute after extra time of the match.
