Bavumai captained the Proteas at the World Cup, Nei von der Dussen

Temba Bavuma has recently recovered from injury. South Africa has made him the captain in the upcoming T20 World Cup.If all goes well, Bavuma will return to the field with South Africa’s tour of India. The Proteas will play three ODIs and T20Is there.

Victor Mpitsang, coordinator of the South African selection committee, said, ‘Temba has recovered well. He plays for Lions in Namibia. Racey—as we all know, broke his finger a week ago. He underwent surgery. Unfortunately the injury did not come at a good time.

Von der Dussen’s injury gave Rousseau a chance. He went to England to play in Kolpak contract. He recently returned to international cricket after six years after spending a great time in the T20 Blast. Riza Hendricks, Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram are in the 14-man squad along with Russo.

Interestingly, the South African selectors have kept two fast bowling all-rounders Dwayne Pretorius and Wayne Parnell in the team. Andile Fiquao, Bjorn Fortuin and Marco Jansen got a place in the reserve list of three.

“Wayne will give us good diversity in the opening bowling,” explained Mpitsang on keeping Parnell and Pretorius in the team. His performance in the new ball and death overs is excellent. Pretorius is doing well in the middle and at the end of the innings.
