West Bengal Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee’s sister-in-law Menka Gambhir has been denied entry to Thailand by the country’s investigative intelligence agency, the Enforcement Directorate (ED). He was detained at the Kolkata airport. It was informed at the airport that a lookout notice has been issued against him in a special case, so he will not be allowed to go abroad.
Menka Gambhir arrived at the Kolkata airport at around eight o’clock on Saturday night. The flight was last night. Menka went to the immigration office to get the boarding pass with the passport. Immigration officials took him to a room. Then he informed that he will not go abroad. A lookout notice has been issued against him.
Abhishek Banerjee, his wife Rujira Banerjee and Abhishek’s sister-in-law Menka have been named in the investigation into the sensational coal smuggling case in West Bengal.
It is alleged that a large part of this coal smuggling money has been smuggled into foreign banks.
According to the ED letter, Menka will have to appear at the ED office in Kolkata for questioning next week. His trip to Bangkok was blocked.
Several Trinamool leaders were alleged to be involved in the sensational coal smuggling case in West Bengal.
Now he has fled the country and is hiding abroad. As Abhishek and Rujira are alleged to be involved in the coal smuggling case, CBI on one side and ED on the other are investigating the case. And the name of MP Abhishek Banerjee’s sister-in-law Menka Gambhir has been accused of being involved in that case.
