When people around the world are engaged in the abominable game of deforestation, the forest is swallowing up an entire village of human habitation! Surprisingly, this happened in the village of Houtuwan in China. Where nature has gradually surrounded a village and made it uninhabitable. But the heavenly beauty of this uninhabited village draws the people of the world to it again and again. This Chinese village known as ‘Fishing Village’ has many unknown stories. Let’s know its history-
This village called ‘Fishing Village’ was once inhabited by many people. But as the transportation system in the village was underdeveloped, people had to struggle to survive there. So gradually people left the village and started living elsewhere. According to history, around 1980 there were about 3 thousand people living in this village. But after 1990, when many families started leaving the village, the houses built there started to become empty. Even, people leave behind their used furniture in these houses. Later, around 2002, this village named Houtuwan became completely deserted.
The village has been abandoned for a long time. The adjacent forests began to rule this uninhabited state. Every house that remained in the village began to gather plants and foliage. In 2015, a photographer came to visit this old Houtuwan village. Upon arrival, the eyes stop at the beauty of the village. What a wonderful decoration the world has decorated this village. Its beauty will beat even the color of henna on the hands of the new bride. The entire village is covered with green foliage. Even inside every house of the village, they have established an assembly. Seeing this scene, the young man captured the camera.
After returning home, the young man posted those pictures on his social media. Within moments of posting it went viral around the world. Immediately people started looking for a way to reach that village. The beauty of the village drives people crazy like the flute of Hamilon. As the rats ran after Hamilon that day, the people, overcome by the beauty of this village, began to run to see it. But reaching this village is not an easy task at all. The village is located on Shengshan Island off the east coast of China. To get to this village, which is about 80 kilometers from Shanghai, China, you first need to take a ferry to the Gaoqi Islands. After a 3-hour ferry ride, we had to get off at Gauki Islands and take the car again. There is also about a two-hour road. That car from Gauki Islands will take you to the beautiful village of Houtuwan. After 2015, this village was not an ideal place for tourism, but in the last few years, the government of the country has given new life to the village by maintaining it.
The Chinese government has made all sorts of arrangements so that tourists can enjoy the beauty of the whole village by standing at a particular place. The entrance fee to the village is only 3 dollars for a tourist. Which is about 310 taka in Bangladeshi currency. Besides, if you want to enjoy the beauty of the whole village on foot, you have to pay 8 dollars. Which is about 830 taka in Bangladeshi currency. The contribution of the beauty of this village to China’s tourism sector is undeniable. According to 2017 estimates, the Chinese government earned about 1 million US dollars from this village in that one year. Which is more than 1 crore in Bangladeshi currency.
