Twitter posts Q3 net loss due to lawsuit settlement. Twitter, Inc., the social media company that allows users to share and receive short messages, has released its third quarter financial statement. The company reported a net loss of $167 million for the three month period ending September 30th, 2018. This is due to a legal settlement with Project Veritas in excess of $10 million during this time frame as well as higher expenses related to compensation and benefits costs driven by increased headcount growth.
James O’Keefe, president of Project Veritas, issued the following comment As a pro-free-speech company and a leader in the fight against fake news, Project Veritas is prepared to protect its First Amendment rights by taking legal action if Twitter does not take the necessary actions to ensure that our right to engage in political activity is restored on its platform. We are hopeful that Twitter will be more transparent about how it conducts its business in the future and will hold itself to the same standards of freedom on which they have built their reputation.
Project Veritas launched ProjectVeritasAction.com, a website dedicated to restoring our right to engage in political activity on Twitter using the hashtags VeritasIs Willing ToBeat Twitter and Beat Twitter. Twitter has the potential to shift the entire landscape of political discourse—we wish them nothing but success.
