The Pakistan Cricket Board is working on a plan to host a tri-nation series every year with Australia and England in the ICC’s new Future Tours program from 2023 to 2026.
According to a reliable source, Board Chairman Ramiz Raja will present a proposal in this regard at
the ICC meeting scheduled to held in Birmingham during the Commonwealth Games.
The source said Ramiz had proposed a four-nation biennial series against
India at the last ICC meeting. But it ruined due to the indifference of others,
especially India. As an alternative to this, the board is going to take steps to organize a tri-national series.
Due to Pakistan’s existing political and diplomatic relations with India, discussions on the series did not go far.
This time the PCB wants to organize a three-nation tournament every year excluding India.
Pakistan will play a tri-nation series against Bangladesh in New Zealand before the T20 World Cup in Australia.
The Pakistan Cricket Board has already decided to play in this series.
PCB chairman Ramiz Raja said this while talking to Pakistani media on Saturday. The T20 World Cup will start in Australia next October.
Earlier, plans were afoot to host the tri-series in New Zealand.
“After confirming the date of England’s tour of Pakistan,
which starts in Pakistan on September 15,
we have confirmed our participation in the tri-nation series in New Zealand,” said Ramiz Raja.
I want our team to take part in some international matches in the Australian environment before the World Cup.
Then, through this tri-nation series, the team will get a chance to decide their best combination, to test themselves well. ‘🔱
