Zlatan Ibrahimovic will be sidelined until 2023 after the Swedish striker had a procedure to his left side knee, his club AC Milan said on Wednesday.
Ibrahimovic has battled with a knee injury lately, last playing the full an hour and a half for the Italian side in January
The 40-year-old praised his second Serie A title with Milan, playing the most recent 18 minutes of the last game against Sassuolo on Sunday as they pipped rivals Inter to the title by two.
“The arthroscopy had been made arrangements for some time to conclusively determine the joint’s shakiness through the reproduction of the front cruciate tendon, with sidelong support and meniscus restitution,” Milan said in an explanation.
“The activity was a finished achievement and the forecast is assessed somewhere in the range of seven and eight months.”
Ibrahimovic, Sweden’s top scorer with 62 objectives, was not named in the public group for the following month’s UEFA Nations League matches.
He had at first resigned from the Swedish public group after Euro 2016, yet returned for their World Cup qualifiers in 2021.
